After building up your starting planet within Protection Zone 0 and constructing your first ships, the tutorial quest will guide you to establish a new colony. To found a colony, you need to follow these steps:

* Search for a suitable planet via the galaxy map.
* Spy on the chosen planet (Spy Probe 1 is needed to reveal fleet and ground troop strength)
** Simulate the space battle using the [[Combat Simulator]]
** Simulate the ground battle using the [[Combat Simulator]]
* Attack the chosen planet with your fleet using the '''Attack''' fleet command (only the space battle will be carried out!)

These 'simple' steps will allow you to establish a colony. However, some conditions must be met in order for the process to be successful.
 

====Conditions for Colonization====
#The chosen planet must be in the same protection zone as you.
#The '''Ground Battle''' command can only be used if the space battle has been won and no defending ships remain. Make sure to check the “Occupy” box to prevent your ground units from returning!

====Special Case: Raid Colony====
 
A Raid Colony is intended for temporary deployment in a distant system, for example to attack an enemy more quickly and efficiently without constantly moving your main planet. However, no buildings can be constructed on a Raid Colony. Fleets can still be stationed as usual. To create a Raid Colony, simply select "Raid Colony" explicitly in the fleet menu.

Since you might not have enough ground troops to conquer a Raid Colony, they can also be blockaded at any time (even outside of war) using the "Orbital Blockade" command to disrupt flights and hinder the owner’s strategy—though this carries the usual risks of blockading. Blockades on Raid Colonies can also be broken using the "Defend" command! (The defending fleet, however, will not remain stationed after breaking the blockade due to insufficient command building level.)

===Helpful Tips===
*NPC planets are populated by different races. Each race has varying strength. Scout 3–4 to find the best target. Black Sun and Zann Consortium are often harder to defeat.
 
*Against NPCs, it’s best to use only Fighters + Bombers for the space battle, and only Infantry for the first ground battle. The required vehicles can be sent as a second wave using the “Occupy” command.
 
*NPCs refresh every 48 hours (and may switch zones), so attack soon after the first spy mission. If simulations fail, send a Fighter with “Attack” to prevent the NPC from resetting. Only flights shorter than 7 days prevent the reset.
 
*You have 6 days to send your colonization ship. No rush if you don’t have one immediately.
 
*Use the "Station" fleet command to send some transports to the colony to safeguard your resources—planets can be attacked right after colonization!
 
*NEW: When founding a Raid Colony, the resources on the NPC planet are now credited to the Raid Colony!
