Are you wondering why some players get different prices for their spaceships or ground units than you do? Here’s your explanation.
Spaceships
Prices in the Trading Center are always based on your own cost for a unit. These costs are calculated from the base cost of the unit and your level in Shipbuilding Technology, which increases the resource cost by 1% per level. Since V4.4, build time is also included, with 1 Credit charged per second of construction time.
In the following examples, construction time costs are directly shown in the Credit values for simplicity.
Example:
Base Costs for Fictional Hega Mothership
10,000 Durasteel
10,000 Tibanna Gas
10,000 Crystal
10,000 Credits
100 Ezellen
Your Production Costs for Fictional Hega Mothership
12,000 Durasteel
12,000 Tibanna Gas
12,000 Crystal
12,000 Credits
100 Ezellen
To make 0% profit, you would need to offer your unit at your own production cost.
But why can another player offer at higher or lower prices while still making 0% profit?
This is due to differing research levels in Shipbuilding Technology.
Example 2:
Production Costs of Player B with Shipbuilding Tech 10
11,000 Durasteel
11,000 Tibanna Gas
11,000 Crystal
11,000 Credits
100 Ezellen
Production Costs of Player C with Shipbuilding Tech 50
15,000 Durasteel
15,000 Tibanna Gas
15,000 Crystal
15,000 Credits
100 Ezellen
Conclusion
If you buy ships from a producer with higher Shipbuilding Technology than yours, you’ll pay more than your own production cost.
Conversely, you can buy ships cheaper than your own cost if you have a higher Shipbuilding Technology level than the seller.
Ground Units
The situation with ground units is the same as with spaceships, except that the Shipbuilding Technology is not the deciding factor. Instead, the cost is determined by the level of the production buildings:
Vehicle Depot / Weapons Factory
Recruitment Camp / Troop Training Facility
– each of which provides a 1.5% cost reduction per level. Note that costs decrease with higher building levels!
