Der TIE-Jäger, wobei dies eine Kurzform für Twin-Ion-Engine ist, ist das Rückgrat der imperialen Jägerverbände. Ein sehr günstiger und schnell zu produzierender Jäger, der von nahezu jedem Piloten problemlos geflogen werden kann. TIE-Jäger sind vor allem auf Geschwindigkeit und Manövrierbarkeit ausgelegt, weshalb ihnen Schutzschilde, Panzerung, Hyperraumantrieb und schwere Waffen fehlen. In Sachen Geschwindig- und Manövrierbarkeit sind sie sogar dem X-Flügler überlegen.   
The Nantex-class starfighter, also known as the Geonosian starfighter, is capable of both space and planetary atmospheric operations. Its laser cannon mounted in the centre section can be fired in a 360-degree angle. 100 small tractor beam projectors distributed throughout the ship are used for more precise target acquirement and space superiority in short-range combat. To protect against enemy non-energy weapon systems such as missiles and torpedoes, many fighters have an internal gravity generator to deflect the projectiles.
